It depends on the installed base, as the learning curve is vital in any project, if it is a project that does not have an installed base I would recommend open source codes such as Arduino IDE, Raspberry Pi, ESP32, as new generations know more and can develop more innovations, although they do not have major industrial applications, this will change to open source. And if they have installations of some known manufacturer use languages that the factories are used to.

Back end development on the other had requires some real thought and is going to be contextual to the industry. All ways consider best practices and industry standards here. If you have 30-year electricians who know ladder logic and you put an ST program in front of them, they will fight it every step of the way. Eu aprendi que esta etapa se divide em dois momentos. Os testes de fábrica, que est?o bem descritos aqui, s?o simula??es do funcionamento real em bancada e os testes de campo. Os testes de campo s?o realizados em condi??es de opera??o. Num sistema industrial ele é feito diretamente com os operadores em conjunto com os demais equipamentos interligado. Num sistema com opera??o aberta pode ser realizado com um grupo focal do seu cliente. Em ambos os casos iremos avaliar a facilidade de acesso e ajustes necessários para que seja posto em ambiente de produ??o.

There are many different formats for coding. So you should be really careful about what you’re going to use. Because your code should be be visible and understandable for all other collages to maintain. If you don’t have a common guidelines/standards you will fail in the end.

There is no dedicated programming language for control systems. Even the basic control system algorithm, ladder logic is finally deployed as C code in PLCs. The software is a tool to design the control strategy and safety logic, every OEM has their own control software (ex: GE, ABB, Snider electric.… etc). The control systems become more complicated as PIDs and MPCs come in. The best software to use in general to design any control system and can be used to deploy in the hardware is MATLAB/Simulink. It has both the code level and GUI level of design methods.

It is wise to consider what languages your staff have proficiency to ensure turnover doesn't leave the business vulnerable. Many PLCs are written in C and the logic is straightforward and easy to understand, but the system you use to interface and collect data remotely won't be. SCADA is commonly used on the back end for remote control and collection but I have seen front end systems become deprecated and have compatibility issues moving forward. Being able to do so with relying on cost prohibitive consultants and contractors is important for long term profitability.

Check standards like IEC 61131-3 to have an overview and common points with rest of the world. Writing in a hierarcy and with a same method makes your coding more understandable.
