Here's the thing...if you're strategizing around a niche, you've already lost. Your niche MUST be authentic. There are too many impostors and audiences will know you are full of crap after a few minutes. Sure. You can memorize perfected crafted prose. But it's the authentic stories and experiences that people truly gravitate to. So start by reflecting and asking yourself these 3 questions: #1: What do I do, that few others do, as well as I do? #2. What do I love doing and others will feel my passion for the topic after hearing me for a few moments? #3. What do people want and/or need to hear about that overlaps with the 2 aforementioned questions. This approach will help define your niche.

The best way (I have found ??) to share my credentials is to SHOW, rather than TELL. Sure I can tell you what it takes to transform your organisation or yourself. But it’s far more compelling for you to see it in action. It’s about how we show up, every day. After all, this is what it means to be authentic!

I will add here, when ON stage is not the time to share credentials, achievements etc. It often comes across as boastful and you can lose your audience in the first minute. Let all that shine through in your CONTENT and not a brochure component of your speech. Let your performance do that for you

The ironic thing about this section of "Provide Value" is that it leads us to think about ourselves, which creates a "me-centered" positioning when you're in front of the audience. My biggest learning on stage, through hard experience, is to turn it in the other direction. Think about the audience. What do they need that you can provide? What's your burning purpose for being that and what must you share with them? You've done your homework, you have the experience, you're prepared. Now shift your mindset and ask, how can you serve your audience and connect with them as humans?
