Sometimes, as a MC, the job is very specific, requires data analysis and a clear cut strategy, implementation, efficiency analysis and result consultation. However, if the project you are working on has a lot of grey already, and the system or process in which you are working is not prove to be effective, it may require collaboration. You bring to the table the objective point of view, historic experience of what works and what doesn't, and clear cut implementation strategies. Your client brings the internal knowledge and client expectations. You need to be mindful of this and bring that to the table.

Challenge the status quo! If you want to foster creativity and innovation, design what-if scenarios. Look at things from various perspectives and get the team's input. Whereas you want to limit the amount of decision-makers involved, you don't have to limit the team's input. It gets their buy-in and enthusiasm toward the project and potential changes but mostly keeps things from getting stagnant. Always encourage the questions: How? Why? Is there another way?
