There are many ways to increase productivity in engineering design Such as : 1- Optimise your engineering decisions. 2- Always have a Quality Control checklist. 3- Choose the new Process Software. 4-Good Planning 5- Sharing of knowledge across the team. 6- Motivational team building can create a more open environment to work.

Part 1: There are two types of projects generally for a engineering design team: 1. Completely new development 2. Customized solutions for standard products For the first type of project, one should follow the universally accepted Stage-Gate process. Divide the project into several stages and have gate review with a core project team( cross functional team) before moving on to the next stage. Basic New Product Development. Such projects are usually spanning somewhere between 6 months to 18-24 months and gives you the luxury of time. For the second type of projects where the team has to provide customized solutions is a bit tricky. Here you are already pressed for time, and there will be limited scope of trial and validation...

A lot of times, miscommunications and non-accountability waste much more time and resources than engineering, especially you deal with non-engineers.

An example of design thinking is to decide on key features required for the design like trusses that affect the stress flow and design that affects aerodynamics etc this can usually be done by a rough sketch explaining the ideas to a shape that others understand and make sure everyone is in the same page which leads to the better design.

The thinking and creative abilities should be one that explicitly says what your goal is. Also in your creativity it should be designed to have a satisfactory solution to the interest of client, especially when it comes to aesthetic and flow.

Selection of standards and engineering practices in design work is a crucial part of execution process. Normally, novel engineers don't think about guidances to follow. Engineering design is not like drawing in a blank paper sheet with no constraints! It is particularly critical within Process Safety field. Even if you think a standard is not good enough for a particular design, then you should prepare a "Standard Deviation" to make aware the rest of the team about it. Making clear you are not ignoring or disregarding them.

La planification est à mon sens une des parties les plus délicates dans la gestion d'un projet. La difficulté vient du fait qu'on souhaite faire entrer du s?r et du garanti dans un futur qui est par définition dynamique et incertain. Plus le projet est long et complexe, et plus le risque d'écart entre le planifier et le réalisé sera grand. One can improve productivity in Engineering design by improving the Quality of the design: which means reducing the defaults, mistakes and adding best practices in design. In real-world industrial settings, teams often juggle multiple projects, making it rare to dedicate focus solely to one project or phase. Given constraints on resources and the project life cycle, celebrating the closure of an entire project can be challenging. Therefore, recognizing and celebrating small successes and milestone completions within the project itself becomes imperative.

C est comme cela que l Europe, puis les US et enfin la Chine se sont développés. L innovation, le bon produit ne vient pas de nulle part. Il viennent de l usine, ils sont révélés par l usine.

Look for the product which already exists in the market and how it differs from your idealogy. If you feel that your ideas and thought process has more values and significant impact over the problem statement than the existing product. Then go ahead and apply all the above points into your execution plan.:-)

Most often than not, coming up with a problem statement than getting deviated from symptoms becomes difficult to achieve. Identify the potential solutions by means of various approaches like design boards, discussions, mapping sessions etc... Once you have an ideal solution or ana approach at hand, then apply the boundaries / limitations that we have to deal with while comingup with such solution. Often dont build the sytem from scratch rather chose products from market to fit the need by considering the scalable aspects of such products with respect to needs at hand.
