After the Covid pandemic, there has been a shift in the geopolitical landscape, which has accelerated the decline of globalization. As a result, suppliers are likely to gain more leverage over operators. With contractors having more control over technology and supply chains becoming more restrictive, contractors will become more selective in their choice of operators, making sure the sustainability of the equipment provided or rented is considered in the operator's drilling program. This situation is similar to that of car manufacturers, where equipment suppliers have become more strategic and limited than car assemblers.
