The Return on Investment (ROI) is usually measured using metrics like Time to Market and Cost Savings, etc.; however, in practice, some DS project's impacts on decision-making are hard to be quantified. For instance, the quality and accuracy of delivered forecasts for the medium and long term could impact significantly on higher-level policies and hence the future of an enterprise but is hard to quantify using conventional methods. In these cases, the value could be measured using the importance of the processes that the DS project is changing; the extent and the speed that the results are translated into actionable insights is a key factor here.

This is the most critical aspect. 1. Align with the business goals - Most data scientists report to a Manager or Director that must show justification and impact to business’ bottom dollar. Be sure to align with the goals of those key stakeholders and decision makers. 2. Success criteria- work with your stakeholders to identify their success criteria. What KPIs do they use, who is their end-user, what are the steps to adoption and production. How many Target users? 3. Constant communication 4.
