From my latest DSA interview experiences all I can say is it's not only important to solve the problem in optimal time complexity but also solve it in optimal space complexity. I, once, gave an interview where interviewer constantly asked me to optimize the memory. Because I always practice optimizing space and time as much as possible, I was able to solve the problem. But I found it different than earlier DSA interviews where solving the problem in optimal time was enough.
