No matter what #ITStrategy framework you use, ALWAYS align to the overall Business Strategy with these 5 components: 1. Assess, understand and document current state 2. Collaborate and seek input from stakeholders on the desired future state -- this is often the hardest 3. Based on current versus future state, perform a Gap Analysis to determine what is required 4. Seek funding and build out a set of programs/projects that will close the future state gap 5. Most importantly clearly articulate 1-4 to all levels of the organization so that each person can understand how they might contribute to the strategy

NIST Cybersecurity Framework: Focuses on keeping your data safe from cyber threats. Balanced Scorecard: Not just for IT but can be adapted to guide your tech strategies. Six Sigma: Improves IT processes, making them more efficient and error-free. Agile and DevOps: These are more about how to work and collaborate effectively, making quick improvements. Choosing the right one depends on your specific goals and needs as a business!

Popular frameworks for SMBs include the Balanced Scorecard, which aligns IT efforts with business objectives; the Technology Acceptance Model (TAM), focusing on user acceptance of technology; and the Agile methodology, which emphasizes flexibility and rapid iteration. Each framework offers different benefits, like structured decision-making or user-centric development.

It is essential to have a documented roadmap, to easily show the organzation how the IT strategy is translated to an actionable plan. The roadmap should be aligned within the organization and be managed adequately to avoid it will be quickly outdated. It would be beneficial to easily find the roadmap.

There are a few options. I highly recommend the OGSM framework for small and medium-sized organisations. OGSM stands for Objectives, Goals, Strategies and Measures. Its beauty lies in its simplicity - setting clear objectives and goals, backing them with executable strategies, and tracking progress through clear metrics. For resource-constrained SMBs, OGSM provides strategic clarity and focus on what matters most. It builds business alignment between business and IT with measurable outcomes. I've found that it works brilliantly for building business-aligned IT strategies and roadmapping in SMB settings.

Business Model Canvas is an effective framework for MSMe. It ensures focused approach which is necessary to gain momentum in growth Also Balanced Scorecard is a good approach for strategy building. May be merge the two to make a wholesome end to end methodology

When choosing a framework, consider the business's specific needs, size, industry, and goals. For example, an SMB in a rapidly changing industry might benefit from the Agile methodology for its flexibility, whereas a more stable business might prefer the structure of the Balanced Scorecard.

#BalancedScorecards usually have 4 dimensions but because they tend to stay "high level" they don't necessarily drive tactical decisions and work efforts that are necessary to actually cause progress towards closing the future state gap. Rather clear, consistent and constant #communications around both the #BusinessStrategy AND the aligned #ITStrategy and other #FunctionalStrategies is key

Firstly, think about what you want to achieve with it. Is it saving money, growing fast, or something else? Then, make sure it can grow as your business does. You don't want to be stuck with something that doesn't fit when you get bigger. See what resources you have. Can you afford it? Do you have the right people to make it work? Make sure it's not too rigid. You want something that fits your business, not the other way around. Check if it works with what you're already using. You don't want to change everything to make it fit. Keep security in mind. It's super important. And see if others in your field use it. They might know what works best. ( Pronect Model Canvas) 4) Formamos um portfolio de projetos que deve ser priorizado e monitorado

Simply by looking at what you have been doing, then doing a SWOT analysis to understand what is currently working (Don't change) to what doesn't (Change). Then aligning what you have created as the framework and map it to each area of the SWOT.

For instance, if an SMB chooses the Agile framework, they would start by training the team in Agile principles and then regularly review and adjust their approach based on feedback and results.

IT strategy is a 2 pronged approach: 1. Evaluate your IT needs to support business in improving productivity, efficiency and effectiveness of doing work. Look at the needs for security and compliance along with growth needs of the organization. Consider integration and automation needs to reduce technical debt. 2. Evaluate right fit IT solutions and build a roadmap for implementing using collaborative execution strategy. Flexibility through customisation and scalability are some of the corner stones to consider along with right fit vs best of breed applications. It is imperative to look and learn from peers while selecting the right IT solutions.
