Most important thing for any HR professional is to understand the Business thoroughly only then you will be able to tailor your company's HR & Learning strategies well. Knowing only HR ops & processes is not enough as HR has to manage employees at all levels across all departments. Be it recruitment, trainings or Performance Management, an HR must accept challenges to know each & every aspect of the business. Understanding operations, P&L, Marketing strategies, Sales Strategies, Revenue Management are few such areas where HR must not hesitate to dive in to align the HR plans with that of Organization goals

Challenging oneself involves a proactive commitment to learning new skills and embracing technology. Recently, I took on the challenge of learning Power BI, a powerful data visualization tool. This initiative was a conscious effort to stay at the forefront of technological advancements in HR. Learning Power BI it's a testament to the idea that embracing new technologies not only fosters personal growth but also contributes to the overall innovation and efficiency of HR processes. As we navigate a rapidly changing landscape, challenging ourselves to acquire new skills becomes a catalyst for creativity and adaptability in addressing evolving challenges.

Engaging as a speaker and panellist allowed interaction with diverse HR professionals, providing a wealth of perspectives on common challenges. Learning from varied voices broadened our collective knowledge, facilitating the exchange of innovative strategies to address shared issues. Connecting with new individuals in the same domain highlighted the potency of varied influences in fostering creative solutions. These interactions at ATD underscored the significance of drawing inspiration from diverse sources to elevate creativity and innovation within HR operations.

I think diversifying inspiration is vital. Engaging with diverse content through reading, attending events, and networking with experts broadens perspectives. Exposure to new trends and best practices enhances problem-solving skills. By embracing varied sources of inspiration, we can infuse innovation into operations, fostering a dynamic and adaptive approach to the ever-evolving challenges within the field.

Unlocking creativity in HR Operations involves employing strategic thinking tools like mind maps, SWOT analysis, and design thinking. These techniques structure ideas, overcome mental blocks, and refine solutions. These methodologies can enhance problem-solving, foster innovation, and contribute to the continual improvement of operational processes.

I think it is common sense that an open communication about mistakes is necessary in every company. Only people who truly feel safe and supported to try new things out, will be innovative.

In my experience, a pivotal aspect of creating a supportive environment for creativity and innovation in HR Operations has been nurturing and empowering the team members. I observed a significant boost in their creative contributions by instilling confidence and trust. Providing clear goals, expectations, and autonomy to explore innovative solutions resulted in a more engaged and proactive team. Recognizing team effort is paramount, and I achieve this by giving credit and acknowledgement. This practice boosts morale and reinforces the importance of collective contributions, fostering a culture where creativity flourishes and innovation thrives.

Always encouraging team member to brain storming for great solution when a problem arises. Sometimes manager might view problem as a crisis but never forget that crisis can always be an opportunity to learn and boost the problem solving skills of your team. Never underestimate the team, sometimes they have a lot of potential that might open up your eyes. Lastly, always giving them credit when they take initiative to contribute or when extra miles for getting tasks done!

Always, I mean always be open to accept new things, we should embrace changes and especially opportunities were given. Sometimes we might refuse some great ideas when they are less familiar to what we used to know, but being open, innovative is what keeps us improving always!

Next to the openess towards changes and uncertainty, we should also be open to other opinions and views of people. I see this as accelerator of innovation. We can learn from each other and from our different views and perspectives on things and topics.

From my point of view fostering creativity in Operations involves embracing an open mind. Curiosity, flexibility, and adaptability to change are key. Being receptive to diverse opinions and feedback, coupled with resilience and optimism, enhances problem-solving. In HR Operations, an open mind not only cultivates innovation but also strengthens the ability to navigate challenges, learn from mistakes, and achieve organizational goals effectively.

I think we need to shift our thinking from process to experience .... And this means we need to think from an employee perspective, we need to think about how we can walk the journey together with the employee, and then we map out our process and experience journeys accordingly.

Don't penalise, rather encourage. That brings out the maximum creativity.
