Ensure there are older people than you, younger people than you, people that speak fast and those that think slow, people that are introverted as well as extroverted. Include people that got to where they are through very different paths than you or than whatever the "traditional" method may be. It is always helpful to have people with actual construction experience to participate in the design process as well.

Never delegate without properly explaining or training them on the task. Advocate for your team when they are not around. Plan ahead on how you can provide the right software, the right access to information, the right invitation to the important client meetings. When they come back with a draft of their work output, spend the time to really review it so they see you are interested in their work. Putting staff in sink-or-swim situations only makes people feel anxious and unsure of themselves. Not many are built to thrive in that and even those that can, likely would do more and better with the right level of support.
