Something I found helpful is exploring open datasets to practice visualization. For example, I worked on a personal project where I compared fuel stations versus charging stations in different locations using OpenStreetMap data, data from the New Zealand Transport Agency, and ggplot2 as the visualization package in R. I shared the final visual on Twitter (now X) and here on LinkedIn, and I even got a request to use the image in an executive presentation! In many other cases, I created visuals that only stayed on my laptop, but they helped me improve my skills while being creative!
