Activd listening and making strong rapport is very important to get involved in this process. Most of the time conflict can go worse due to lack of proper expression and/ or misusing the power in the name of conflict resolution.

In my experience, keeping the focus on behaviors and events are the best ways to work through conflict. This allows all parties to leave personalities out of the healing process.

The Volunteer Value should be complemented by a well defined role of the staff. A good example is the intersection between your professional staff who are pro fundraisers and the value you'd like to have a volunteer bring to enhancing fundraising. 2. As a result when conflicts arise, as they always do, mitigating the conflicts begins with caring conversations from a platform of trust. By the skillful use of appropriate questions, what if the leader learned from a volunteer about the event that happened in their life that continues to impact their decision-making processes. Entering into the world of people builds trust. If trust is cherished by all, conflicts rarely escalate into an unmanageable situation.

Volunteers can feel less important because they are not staff even if they are working as hard as staff, or in some cases harder. When the holiday season comes around, celebrate everyone as an organization. Don’t hold a separate party for staff and another for volunteers. The fact is, in my experience, the volunteers have worked just as hard to support the mission of the organization, and in some cases harder and therefore, celebrate as one. This will help decrease conflict.
