In my experience working with tech startups the equity distribution should be made after the development of the future investment goals. If the goal is to go after investors, the company distribution should be 51% founder, 20% co-founder, 9% future employee’s distribution, and 20% future investors. When you start raising the capital, give only 3% of equity and dilute everyone except the founder. Try to bootstrap as much as you can. Take care of your equity. Never do 50/50 split or 33/33/34, those are the worse deals ever. Founders and Co-founders must have a job description and if either or don’t perform, they need to be replaced (pay their investment and bye) Everything must be very clear in the founders agreement.
