The OKR methodology is a goal-setting system that enables teams to function like a living organism, working independently without the need for micromanagement at every step. Implementing OKR will help: - Define the right direction for both you as the owner and for your team - Create a dynamic business that can grow and scale on its own However, you should keep in mind that OKR won't make you rich overnight, nor will it transform your company into a unicorn instantly. It’ll take time and consistent effort

Provide clear visibility into Organization Goals for every individual. Let other departments derive how they can support those goals, and let the KPIs be defined to drive towards individual department > Function goal. Everyone grows, when everyone contributes!

I have found 3 actions impactful 1) MINDSET - Build a bold, no excuses Mindset by connecting all actions to their personal and professional Goals 2. FOCUSED PLAN - I use the 80-20 rule. We decide which 20% actions are going to give us 80% results. Focus on that and say no to everything else 3. Its important to have an open door communication and listen to people irrespective of the levels. If a leader only listens to his immediate reportees he may not have a clear picture of whats happening in the organization. Also listen not for the sake of listening but to take action.

There is a big difference between a natural empath and a learned empath. As a leader hones their skills to be either we must remain cognisant that empathy does come with responsibilty. As leaders, the actions and fulfillment of such actions that arise post your conversation will either solidify your standing as a great leader or you will fall from grace. Be sure to do what you are doing with authenticity, integrity and love.

Encourage team members to take ownership of their work and provide opportunities for them to make decisions and contribute their ideas. This empowers them and fosters a sense of ownership and responsibility.

Always listen to the team and what they want. If you can't do it, give them a reasonable answer to believe you. The other thing is to see things from their perspective and emphatize and appreciate them for their efforts.

In my experience this is where leaders struggle the most. Leaders need to be able to pivot and agile in their communication style to cascade a message across a broader group. As you get granular and need to ascertain that the message resonates to its fullest extent, being able to communicate in a way that is most palatable and effective for the audience is key. More often than not, we get caught up in the end goal instead of ensuring that the messaging for the vision has just as much emphasis and attention.

A good leader will have the emotional intelligence to be able to understand their team members, including their bias, preferences, strengths and challenges. They can use that information to adapt to a style of communication that will resonate with each individual. They will also be adapt at mirroring the person they are talking to if needed for more effect.

Try the Spanish approach of avoiding words that directly assign blame to your team members. For example, in Spanish you don't say "I lost the pencil", you say "the pencil lost itself" or probably better translated "the pencil was lost." Whenever you say something like "why did you mess up XYZ", with the emphasis on "you", the employee will naturally become defensive like a turtle retreating to it's shell. Alternatively, using language that separates the person and the problem will allow them to more easily open their mind to change and improvement.

For me the key has been adding a personal touch in the feedback… try and relate yourself with the message you want to convey to the team. I often give examples how I would approach.

I remember that at the end of our departmental events I used to take the time out to publicly appreciate and encourage and thank not just individuals from my team but also the other departments like IT, Procurement, etc because you as a leader have to realize it’s not a one man or one department show. It’s a collective effort and applying this strategy just helped me improve the quality of my events

Feedback is a two way street. As leader getting feedback on how you can serve your team is important. Most managers forget this aspect and feedback becomes just a measure they use to correct employees instead of asking how they themselves can improve. There must be purpose and intention behind work. To know how to help a team is to know their “why” and deep rooted desires for belonging, mission, value, or respect to name a few.
