It is good to keep it simple: 2 groups by season (spring & summer, and fall & winter), in color order, of the clothes you wear the most. If you have the space, keep out of season clothes in a separate closet. If not, keep the current season's clothes front and center, putting the other seasons in the back, or further away from the closet entrance/door.
