If you share an electrical enclosure with the PLC along with all the inputs and outputs you must have clean power to the unit. And shielding from any transformers especially from higher voltage and power. I found it very important to have separate ground for the PLC. I learned this from many hours of testing There at probably better solutions but that solved my problems

I encountered a problem where in a conveyor erratically stops and rebooting the machine solves the problem and HMI reports no error. What happened was the panel manufacturer used same power source for PLC CPU and field devices. There was a bad solenoid coil (short circuited). So, whenever the context of switching on the solenoid occurs it is loading the SMPS and forcing the PLC to reboot and stopping the entire process. On rebooting everything was coming back to normalcy till such time the context of switching on solenoid occurs. I almost took couple of hours troubleshooting this. I agree with Moez by adding a bit more. Please don't use core-cables for Analog signals and Serial Communication. I believe professionals already know use of pair-cable but still they overlook during construction to make their contractors happy.

Here is my experience on why following good engineering practices is also critical. We had a machine (glue applicator) supplied by a reputed European brand leaking the glue erratically. On investigation I found that the program is adding the analog value from an unwired analog input. Siemens PLC manual does suggest you should "short" unused AIs. But somehow it was missing. When we shorted (actually I could have altered the program too accordingly), the problem was resolved.

En mi experiencia se suele hacer tres cosas: 1. Conectar un aislador analógico, que es una tarjeta que va en el riel din, cuya entrada se conecta al instrumento, y su salida va hacia la entrada del PLC. Esto permite aislar las componentes parásitas que alteran la se?al del sensor y llega filtrada al controlador. 2. Configurar un filtro por hardware en el PLC, donde se define la frecuencia en Hz para el muestreo. 3. Realizar un filtro por software, donde lo más sencillo es calcular la media de los datos que van siendo leídos por el controlador, de forma que se atenúe la dispersión.
