1 Identify your values

Your values are the principles and beliefs that guide your decisions and actions. They reflect what is important to you, what motivates you, and what gives you satisfaction. To identify your values, you can ask yourself some questions such as what makes you happy or frustrated at work, which causes or issues you care about, which skills or talents you enjoy using or developing, and what qualities or characteristics you admire in others. Additionally, there are tools such as online surveys, quizzes, or inventories that can help you discover your values. For example, the Career Values Card Sort or the O*NET Work Values Inventory can be useful for this purpose.

I mean to be very Frank ur career development objective or values may change as per time and environment ..frankly it's true..becouse ur perspective towards life changes with time as well as responsibilities. So the only objective at young age should be to learn and grow , and with time learn yourself , it takes time to learn ones own SWOT . I always feel u don't really create ur objectives but life and environment creates ur belief system which drives ur objective.i am not trying to say u should not be ambitious but at the same time u need to take one step at a time

Identify your values, align how you spend your time, energy & attention in living out these values is a key topic of what we train people in our SIY classes. The most critical aspect of this exercise is taking concrete steps towards aligning your action with your values. This may require letting go of old beliefs, assumptions, and behavior patterns, which no longer works for you. Major changes can be unsettling, but in this case it's very much worth it! 2 Assess your career options

Evaluating your current and potential career options requires a clear understanding of your values. Ask yourself questions such as how your job aligns with and challenges your values, how they fit with the culture and mission of your organization, and how they influence your career goals. To aid in exploration, use online assessments, databases, or guides like the CareerOneStop Career Exploration Tool or the O*NET Interest Profiler. With these tools, you can gain a better understanding of how your values fit into the larger context of your career.

This isn't always about finding the perfect job that matches all your values. The more effective approach is to look at ways you can live out those values in your existing job. e.g. if you value kindness, is there a way to exercise kindness already in your existing job? If not, i.e. your work environment doesn't support kindness, then by all means seek alternatives. Otherwise, it's worth taking a deeper look at your existing role than chase down the next one.

3 Pursue your goals

After assessing your career options, you can use your values as a compass to guide your career development. Setting SMART goals that are specific, measurable, achievable, relevant, and time-bound, and that align with your values can help you pursue your goals. Some strategies to help you do this are creating a career development plan that outlines your short-term and long-term goals, seeking feedback from your manager or peers, joining professional associations or groups, attending workshops or conferences to enhance your knowledge and skills, and volunteering for projects or roles that challenge you. Aligning your career development with your personal values can give you more meaning and satisfaction in your work. It can also help you make better decisions and achieve your potential. By identifying your values and pursuing goals that reflect who you are and what matters to you, you can create a career path that works for you.

Goals needs to be more personel fullfillment goals which aligns with company objective. This makes sure u always feel excited. For example as academician if research is my personel pursuit and university also grows with my research then every day is exciting.
