One of the more frustrating challenges of K-means clustering is how to pick a reasonable value for K. The algorithm will find K clusters no matter what value you choose for K, so if you put in 3, you'll see 3 groups. If you put in 10, you'll see 10 groups. Are there really 10 meaningful groups in the data? K-means can't tell you. There are mathematical ways to help guide choosing a reasonable K, but this is also a place where it's important to bring strong domain knowledge and data intuition into the analysis and choose a value that is reasonable.

Clustering is also difficult to explain to non-technical stakeholders. High dimensional datasets are also usually dynamic, causing black boxing when clustering is applied. Often, there is no "right" answer in clustering analysis, causing reproducibility to suffer greatly.
