The first step is to assess your current online presence and identify any gaps, inconsistencies, or issues that may harm your reputation. You can use tools like Google Alerts, BrandYourself, or Mention to monitor your name, keywords, and topics related to your brand across the web. You can also search for yourself on different platforms and devices and see how you appear in the results. Look for any outdated, inaccurate, or negative information and take steps to update, correct, or remove it.

okay sounds like a good idea. I do this sometimes with just Google, but didn’t know about the other applications. It’s been about damage control with me in the past. But am learning if someone believes - just be yourself. It’s a lot less work. Mike.. so you guys do pay attention to me.

Managing your personal brand reputation online is like tending to a garden in the public eye. Your posts are the seeds you sow - make sure they're rooted in your core values. Social listening tools are your garden shears, helping you trim any budding issues before they grow into thorny problems. Engagement tools are your watering cans, nurturing relationships with your followers. And Google Alerts, well, they're your scarecrow, giving you a heads up when someone mentions your name in the digital neighborhood. Keep your garden flourishing with authenticity, responsiveness, and consistency. After all, you reap what you sow!

This professional networking platform is excellent for showcasing your skills, connecting with industry professionals, and sharing thought leadership content.
The next step is to define your brand identity and goals. Your brand identity is the unique combination of your values, skills, passions, and personality that sets you apart from others. Your goals are the specific outcomes you want to achieve with your personal brand, such as landing a new job, attracting new clients, or building thought leadership. You can use tools like Personal Branding Canvas, Brand Archetype Quiz, or Strengths Finder to help you articulate your brand identity and goals.
-
Ask yourself 3 questions to identify your brand identity: 1. What do I do? 2. Why do I do it? 3. And why should you care? Once you've determined what your brand is, what is your goal? A new job? New clients? Sharing your wisdom? Your brand strategy will begin to form around that. Determining your target audience, what value can you provide to them, how to "edutain" that demographic with your content, planning and frequency of content, measuring your growth.

I gave up on this. I feel like in this city I’m not supposed to have a career. Play your part, even if you don’t like it and survive. I notice friends want to be nice on how they view me or I don’t believe them. But they agree I probably have no future here. Been going on since 2009. But by staying, developed a rep here. Good some years and improvement in others. And until I get along - actually that might not be true anymore. But forgive for the 13th time. Some years I really just want to slit my wrists but the great ohip medical system is an amazing system and resource.

My clients often get stuck with how they are unique from others in their industry who offer the same service. One way to figure out your personal brand is to sit down with five people who know you personally, and five people who know you from your business. And you want to ask them "What is your unfiltered perspective of how you see me and how you believe I come across other people?" Their answer will tell you what personal brand you've created so far. The way that you've created that personal brand is through the impressions that you've given off. Those impressions are unique. You already have a personal brand, now you just have to modify it if you wanted to be different than the one you've already created.
-
Your personal brand exists at the intersection of what makes you unique, your expertise, your experience, and your personality. All these different pieces are important to crafting a content strategy that reflects your inner YOU, and that also supports your growth goals. As yourself: 1. What topics do I feel the most knowledgeable? 2. What am I passionate about? 3. What about my story might resonate with my target audience? 4. What are the highs and lows of my personal journey? This is a great exercise to get your topic brainstorming going.
The third step is to create and share valuable content that showcases your expertise, insights, and opinions on topics relevant to your industry and audience. Content can include blog posts, videos, podcasts, ebooks, webinars, or social media posts. You can use tools like WordPress, Medium, YouTube, Anchor, Canva, or Zoom to create and distribute your content. The key is to provide value, solve problems, and engage your audience with your brand story and voice.
-
Share content that takes the reader through the journey and positions you as the expert. Start out by laying out the challenge - and then walk your reader through the steps showcasing how you dealt with the challenge and reached your desired success.
-
I do this. I don’t think my content holds any monetary value. But it’s free advice and experience. If someone can relate, they do and takes whatever applies to them.
-
Some of the best content for you to create is based upon how you'd respond to topics that you see other people have posted about or even news stories or hot topics that relate to your industry and your and products or services. You want to talk about what people are already talking about. It makes it easier for you to talk about it and invite people into that conversation since it's a conversation they're already having. And when someone posts about a topic that you have thoughts on, compile your thoughts and share them!
The fourth step is to build and nurture your network of contacts, followers, and influencers who can support, endorse, and refer your personal brand. You can use tools like LinkedIn, Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, or Clubhouse to connect and interact with your network. The key is to be authentic, helpful, and generous. You can also use tools like HARO, Quora, or Medium to showcase your expertise and credibility by answering questions, writing articles, or giving quotes.
-
Building a social network is key. Without an engaged network your social content wont gain traction. How to build? Look for those passionate about the same things as you. And connect. Look for those interested in your industry. And connect. Look for those who comment on your competitor's content. And connect with them. You want to build up your own personal community with like-minded people who will be interested in your content - and engage with your posts. But - most importantly, don't be self centered. When looking to connect with other, like-minded people - make sure to engage on THEIR content as well.... you'll be surprised how much will automatically shower back in your direction. Try it!
The final step is to monitor and improve your reputation by collecting feedback, measuring results, and adjusting your strategy. You can use tools like Google Analytics, KPI Dashboard, or SurveyMonkey to track and analyze your online performance, reach, and engagement. You can also use tools like Trustpilot, Testimonial Generator, or LinkedIn Recommendations to collect and display positive reviews and testimonials from your clients, colleagues, or peers. The key is to keep learning, growing, and improving your personal brand reputation online.
-
Monitor your personal brand online by purchasing a social listening tool. It's the easiest way to get the job done, but if you don't have a budget, these are a few options. Use tools like Google Alerts to send you an email when your name or name/industry is mentioned in the media. Google your name often to know who and where your personal brand is being shared. Don't forget about social media channels i.e. LinkedIn and Reddit that could use your name in threads. Make it a routine to filter through these channels searching for your name
