It's important to have a fearless mindset when it comes to accepting risk while being fearful enough to protect yourself from catastrophic losses. Sticking to a risk/reward ratio of 1:2, meaning that for every dollar you risk, you aim to make two dollars in profit. A 1% stop loss and a 2% target helps limit losses and captures profits.

I tell my students every time that risk parameters is what will determine your longevity in this business. Risk parameters include every strategy that aims to protect your capital. Setting your stop loss level. Setting your lot size. And determining how you tend to exit in a trade.

A - A balance between 2 extremes - fearless & fearful. 1) Fearless: To make money, you need to be a little fearless to take on some risk. 2) Fearful: If your trades are leveraged, it can destroy your capital. Therefore, you need to have some fear in you to protect yourself in order to play tomorrow's game.
