I completely agree with the statement emphasizing the importance of follow-up activities to ensure participants can apply what they learned in workshops to their work or personal goals. One way to enhance these suggestions is to encourage participants to engage with an action partner who will hold them accountable and provide support throughout the process. An action partner can serve as a sounding board, offer constructive feedback, and celebrate milestones together. In addition, within their reflection journal, participants can ask themselves questions about lessons learned, improvement, and adjustments. By answering these questions they can identify areas for improvements, and ensure they are getting the most out of the workshop.

I like to pair workshop participants during a workshop to complete designated tasks and share ideas. These pairs lend themselves well to post-workshop follow up and accountability. I suggest giving specific assignments at the end of the workshop that focuses on specific actions for implementation. Then ask the partnered pairs to decide when and how they will follow up with each other to provide support and encouragement. Each pair will come up with their own plan, taking ownership of their ongoing engagement and accountability.
