What are some of the benefits and challenges of strategic thinking in a remote work environment?

Traditional workspace settings placed few limitation on the optimization of strategic thinking and conversely, remote work environment is enhancing that the more as days go by. Whereby remote worker has to deliver against all odds, creatively creating and finding solutions to deliver his tasks before deadline. This process sharpens reasoning and innovative thinking in direction of value and growth. This is priceless in our strategic thinking when it comes to remote working.

Remote work environments do not have to be closed off without face to face collaboration. The technology exists to allow very thorough visibility at a variety of levels. I have strategically managed distribution facilities physically located around the United States exceptionally effectively through the deployment and execution of face to face video calls and video technologies installed strategically throughout the facility. If the appropriate time is put in to build the relationships, it can be effective. I have a cameras on policy for all meetings unless driving or eating, even if you step away or take a call - leave the camera on as if you are in the room.

If carefully managed, you can overcome this by: → ensuring enough time for topics to be discussed thoroughly by the group → including time for idle conversation and thinking out loud without agenda topics to cover → building in breaks to counter the added fatigue of having conversations virtually Ideally, virtual strategic sessions should be planned for half or a full day to make real progress.
