It is essential that usage policies are oriented toward the integral well-being of individuals. A balanced, responsible, and mediated world is possible. Achieving this state will enable us to advance toward a relevant, valid, and reliable digital mediation.

Based on my personal philosophical views, I consider information technology as an additional tool for humans to achieve their goals. The aim of education is to prevent humans from acting or doing harm, and to achieve freedom or independence of thought without being restrained by any party. Even though numerous interactive tools have been available for years now, higher education does not use them as much as K-12 schools. This is likely due to higher education's reliance on lectures that impart instructor expertise. However, this is a missed opportunity in learning. Our attention spans are diminishing for lecture, but creating interactive ways to get through a lecture increases retention and motivation for the subject. Tools like Nearpod, Peardeck, SoftChalk, Top Hat, and a few others, create lectures into interactive lessons, whether synchronous or asynchronous. It doesn't even take that long to transfer a lecture to one of these tools--or others!--and then add engagement. The dividends of learning will be huge.
