Empowerment is the single most important trait to build into teams in my opinion. This allows us to tap into all the skill, gifts and creativity of our fellow teammates to drive better results and employee job satisfaction. Empowerment or what the WHO calls high job control is also high protective of mental well being.

100% agree. Providing flexibility goes hand in hand with trust, respect, autonomy and empowerment. When we trust our teams we naturally provide them with flexibility to deliver results and at the same time recognize that they have a life outside of work that is very important to them.

Yes. Learning and development is one of the other major benefits of autonomy and empowerment. Tapping deep thinking and creativity helps us grow and build connections we wouldn’t normally tap into when we are functioning as gophers when being told how to do our jobs constantly.
