A data scientist is responsible for building this model and he goes through a series of stages right from collecting data, cleaning, understanding relationships between variables, identifying a suitable model. Gen AI is the best example from recent times. The core of Gen AI is LLM(Large Language Model) which are developed by Data Scientists. A perfect blend of Machine learning models and software code makes a good piece of AI software.

I will not emphasize data collection much, as mature data teams have data engineers who can bring data from different storage systems and write ingestion and ETL on top of that. With the help of the data quality team, they can clean the required data. However, data scientists still need to capture the required columns or tables, which is perfectly fine. One thing data scientists need to know is what kind of data they are looking for and where it is located, so they can collaborate with the respective team.

The essence of a good AI model lies in the quality of its data. As a data scientist, think of yourself as a gold miner, sifting through heaps of data to find valuable nuggets. The tools are your shovels, SQL might help you dig, while Pandas helps in filtering the dirt.
