Such specialists owe it to themselves to become content generalists as quickly as possible (though they can specialize in certain industries or disciplines such as SEO).

You may start with one role but gradually you may find these roles getting overlapped. And if you wish to climb up the career ladder it is best to continuously learn and improve your skills. A content strategist can become the content marketer over a period of time, but it will only happen if you keep learning and exploring new ways of carrying out things.
