1 IPv6 Addressing and Subnetting

IPv6 also supports different types of addresses, such as global unicast, link-local, multicast, anycast, and unique local. 3 IPv6 Transition Mechanisms

Engineers would do well to be mindful of the growth of IPv6. Many broadband providers are giving these out with the IPv4 addresses. Not only that, but IPv6 is being turned on in modern operating systems and devices. It is not a stretch to imagine having an unprotected IPv6 connection to the Internet by accident. Just because IPv6 is not intentionally being used doesn't mean it's not being used. Use it or proactively turn it off.
