This year I learned Python on my journey to high AI proficiency, so I can confirm that this hits home as a core skill. It's not an AI panacea, but it opens the door to the tinkering & ideating that lets you create your own novel use cases. Since so much great AI tech is open source, in many cases you only need to be proficient enough to test and tweak a small portion of a larger library to get the functionality you want.
