La medición continua de los consumos energéticos es, sin duda, el primer paso (y el más importante) para implantar una política EFECTIVA de eficiencia energética. Con dispositivos no muy caros podemos medir electricidad, gas, agua e incluso variables de proceso (presión, temperatura, producción). Me dedico a esto desde hace varios a?os y los ahorros son notables: solo con detectar un aumento de la reactiva podemos ahorrar MILES de euros. Por supuesto, detectando consumos anómalos o armónicos perniciosos que, además de penalizar nuestros consumos, pueden causar averías y paros.

Está claro que el submetering (medir aguas abajo del contador) es la mejor estrategia. No requiere de una gran inversión y sin duda conlleva grandes ahorros. Pero por lo menos, una telemedida del contador es absolutamente imprescindible. Esto nos permite detectar consumos anómalos de reactiva (que conllevan penalización y vienen de una posible avería de la batería de condensadores) o documentar los cortes, que en una eventual reclamación a la comercializadora pueden ser la diferencia entre cobrar o no. Pero repito: el submetering es la clave, si bien implica un estudio de la infraestructura energética para instalar los dispositivos en los puntos más estratégicos.

En mi empresa, QE2, no solo medimos consumos, sino producción y tiempos de paro (lo que nos lleva a conocer el OEE). Esto lo hacemos utilizando los mismos dispositivos y sensores IoT, de manera que la inversión se reduce. Las posibilidades que nos da la tecnología son enormes, pero la verdadera mejora está en el buen uso y aprovechamiento de los datos, y para eso un buen gestor energético es fundamental.
