This is something I'm actively working on as well! When I meet someone with whom I find to have an instant connection, I try to have a follow-up one-to-one conversation or coffee chat, of course, if they are interested too. This helps us get to know the person beyond the work we do. You can talk about your motivations, purpose, dreams etc, things we don't often post on social media, but is the real reason that makes us unique. I find that making deep connections is far more fruitful than remaining acquaintances. Quality over quantity any day in this space. Over time, I have found, that it is these connections that have helped me in various situations and not the 100s of names on my list whom I know very little of.

In my experience, making deep connections is the way to go when creating a network. Looking at them as a task to keep track of makes it seem impersonal and transactional. What I have found useful in creating connections is: 1. Getting to know the person by having conversations and learning more about the person, their motivations, struggles, dreams etc. 2.
