What are the most effective ways to stay productive and motivated in Recruiting?

Expect to not get things right and have the tenacity to pick yourself up and try again when things don't go to plan! - It's ok to make mistakes if you can learn from them and grow - Always be prepared to admit when you're wrong and listen to other viewpoints - Set realistic goals - Recruitment is a rollercoaster, there will be highs and many lows...anybody with a long-lasting career in recruitment will never shy away from admitting that it can really knock you at times!

I always recommend setting personal goals and reviewing them quarterly and half yearly. Also if its possible get a work mentor or a coach to help you stay on track. This is a basic thing but try and have an established routine (especially if you work from home)- waking up, working out (whether its cardio or even going for a walk). Having these check in points during the day will also help you to focus. Make sure you also take proper breaks (during the day) and actual holiday too. Coming back to work feeling refreshed and rested is a great reset to helping productivity too!

Being transparent when talking to vendors about what your needs are to ensure they can meet them. In my time in recruiting I have changed ATS companies, reference checks, and background check companies to ensure we have a streamlined process that works for our needs.

Taking short breaks throughout the day can help you recharge and refocus, while rewards can give you something to look forward to and serve as a reminder of your progress. Consider taking regular breaks throughout the day, such as short walks or meditation breaks, to help you decompress and recharge. Additionally, set goals and milestones for yourself and reward yourself when you achieve them. This could be something as simple as taking a short break or treating yourself to something you enjoy, like a favorite snack or activity.

You have to ensure that when you're climbing the mountain, make sure you look back and see the view. By celebrating the wins, big and little, it motivates you to keep going. Don't forget your customer. Applicants have to go through a lot to get to the end of an interview process. Communicate more with them, check how they feel, what they appreciate, and what is not working in the hiring process. Dare to have more catch-ups throughout the process, show some care, and make those feedback count. I learned more from my candidates' experiences than from some courses. There are so many opportunities for project work, where you can leverage those data and implement strategies to improve how your company is hiring. With the rise of AI and lots of steps that make the recruitment process slower and more complicated, it's invaluable to find companies that listen to the candidates and give them a great experience.

Continuous learning and networking are key to staying updated on industry trends, new recruiting techniques, and best practices, not to mention building and maintaining relationships within the industry! Networking also provides insights, referrals, and access to top talent.

Plan ahead and communicate to your team and candidates if there are going to be times that you are truly out of pocket. The best way that I know how to balance is by being organized and having strong time management skills during the work day. Using my email as my to do list, organizing and filing away emails, using my calendars for meetings, using one note for my to do list. All of these help me stay on task and organized so that I can enjoy my away time

Write down somewhere what the reason is that made you go into recruitment, and what the reason is why it is you are still in recruitment. Keep this somewhere close to you, and take moments throughout the year to reflect on this as it will support you when you face adversities and provide guidance when you are seeking clarity in your work.

In my experience it is hugely important to believe in the values/mission of the company that you are recruiting for. By finding a company where your personal values align with a company's values you can speak to what is important to you and your candidates will see the authenticity in that.
