Team work is two or more people working together towards the attainment of set goals and objectives. The team makeup could be interdepartmental, intra-departmental, or an inter-agency team formed to solve a common problem, especially in public service. The team goes through some identified steps namely; Forming, storming, norming, performing and adjourning. A well-constituted team must have a line of communication that is accepted by the team members for team effectiveness. A team must also have a leader that is experienced in teamwork to coordinate effectively. Knowledge of project management is also necessary for a team leader to lead effectively, though it is not a requirement, it depends on the nature of the task.

While self reports and observation are insightful methods of getting direct and explicit feedback on the effectiveness of a teamwork program, we should also be on the lookout for opportunities to use behavioral data for causal econometric analysis. For example was there a similar workflow in the past that was performed by a different team or an individual? Or are there opportunities to field two similar workstreams concurrently and randomize teams to work on them?
