This would be my answer probably for the vast majority, if not 100% of companies. The more committed and engaged employees feel, the more they will act as they literally own a share of the business. The hardest to answer question, at least in my opinion, is “How to accomplish this?”. It’s not a secret that the lack of feedback, or specifically, employees not knowing what it’s expected from them is very detrimental for engagement and commitment to align people with the company’s objectives. So I would say: - Constant feedback - Recognition - Establishing an environment where communication is openly encouraged Would be the most effective tools for the purpose of employees’ engagement.

Groupthink is one of the most dangerous things that can manifest in an economic focussed organisation. Nothing underlined this more than the global financial crisis. Organisations like the Bank of England have since put a lot of effort into building more diverse workforces, with different training and experiences. This is absolutely necessary but not sufficient to avoid groupthink. Whilst expertise are essential, studies of "super forecasters" have shown that having an open mind and genuinely updating beliefs when new information comes along are also essential. Dogma is the antithesis to accurate predictions. Also necessary is a culture where people can disagree and discuss in a healthy way, allowing different ideas to be debated.
