In my experience in HR for over 7 years, it’s important to clarify the role that you are looking to land based on your qualifications, skills and experience. The next important piece to clarify is the companies that you want to work for. Clarity is everything in your career search journey.

In my opinion crucial aspects are: 1) resilience 2) unquestionable values sticking to them even when it becomes hard 3) being a “smart” worker. Unfortunately in finance it is usual to work many many hours but using too often technology below current standards ( e.g. robotics for account balance and managent) 4) political ability. Sometimes the adequate definition of a challenge is already half of the solution.

Remember, it's not just about one person or a few days of interaction; observe and engage with a diverse range of finance professionals at different career stages and management levels. Self-Reflection: Start by assessing your personal alignment with the role. Reflect on your passions, values, and long-term career satisfaction. Ask yourself, "Is this the work I see myself enjoying in the foreseeable future?"

Understanding and creating a career path is key. Find ways to continuously learn. Engage with a career mentor and coach to assist you to navigate your way. Set clear objectives geared towards your growth and follow them with the flexibility to adjust.

People - educate yourself in better understanding people, what the individuals need, how they think, how they like to receive information Processes - understand the business model, finance is always a result of operations. Data - put the data you have in the context of the processes and business model and learn ways to manipulate it.
