It is better to check whether they are receptive! The choices now a days are influenced by their peers! If they are serious about the choice to be made, ask them about their interests and the majors they have in mind. They need to make it clear whether they select a major to gain more knowledge or to help them get a job. Depending upon their perspective, the major that would help them in their goal can be suggested. Never use an authoritative tone or try to show your credentials as you are there to help the youngster select a major. You are not there to show off! Don't talk about areas where you personally do not have much exposure. You may end up cutting a sorry figure. There is a danger of confusing the individual too!

I would agree with other posters. I find it helpful to get students to stop thinking about what degree would help them get a particular career, and to focus on what they are passionate about. Many careers nowadays do not need a particular degree, so it is much better to find your ikigai, and study microcourses alongside this to support you. The job market is going to see big changes over the coming years and students who are flexible and lifelong learners will be the ones who are most successful.
