Developing a smaller collection of the most strategic policies (describing results to be achieved in terms of student outcomes and guidelines/parameters for the various plans, programs, and activities by which those outcomes are to be achieved) enables the board to focus on policies that have the most impact, monitoring progress and alignment, and reviewing/updating them in a regular cycle (we do so annually) to assure they are successful in shaping/guiding performance.
