Data sources are the places where you can find and access data related to your product. They can range from internal or external, qualitative or quantitative, structured or unstructured sources. As a product manager, you should be aware of the common data sources, such as analytics tools (Google Analytics, Mixpanel, Amplitude), user feedback tools (surveys, interviews, reviews), market research tools (reports, trends, benchmarks), and product development tools (Jira, GitHub, Trello). It's important to understand the characteristics, advantages, and limitations of each data source and how they relate to your goals and questions. For example, analytics tools provide quantitative data about user behavior but not why they do it. User feedback tools offer qualitative data about why users like or dislike your product but not how they use it. Market research tools deliver contextual data about your product's position and potential but not how it performs. And product development tools provide operational data about progress and quality but not how it meets user needs and expectations.
