This may sound simplistic, but know how to use your production software well. Get training if necessary. You could have the fastest hardware available, but if you're using your applications inefficiently, it makes little difference. For example, just a couple of months ago, I was talking to someone who used Adobe Premiere Pro a lot, but didn't know he could quickly create a cross-fade by positioning the playhead between two clips and pressing Ctrl + D (default transition). That one shortcut saved him a lot of time.
