The whole question around this is do you want a “supplier agreement” or do you want a “supplier partnership”? Of course you may purchase an item a few pence cheaper but does your supplier have the same values as you? Do they want to grow the business with you? In my experience, a supplier agreement means that both parties simply see who can get the best deal and often, who can get one over on the other? A supplier Partnership means you can have honest, open conversations and look at what is best for both parties? A supplier agreement will tend to be more short term and look at how we can grow and extend our relationship.
