There is no magic pill here. It is extremely complex problem and therefore need a complex solution. The complex solution to be cost efficient need to be very well coordinated by the body who had a clear vision of the task and understand all available tools not only from transmission industry but from other areas as well

Building a high voltage overlay. High voltage transmission 345 kV+ is to the grid what , highways and interstates are to roadways. The HV networks laid down in a lot of regions when wind farms took off around 2012, was specifically to aleviate transmission congestion and get power to the load center, large cities. In the car world, it is said "there is no replacement for displacement". In power transmission, "there is no substitute to just building more transmission to make a stronger grid". You can play games with stuff like dynamic loading but a strong grid has synergistic qualities and can better withstand disasters.

The main challenge in power transmission is the large distribution of both consumers and generation. The era when only very large power plants were built and only with subsidies from the government is no longer relevant. Therefore, the focus in the development of power transmission systems has shifted. At the end of the last century, the main task was to ensure transmission of large capacities over long distances. Nowadays, consumers can build their own micro-generation and feed the electricity surplus into the energy system

2 Power transmission solutions

Power engineers can adopt several solutions to overcome challenges, such as a smart grid, high voltage transmission, and flexible AC transmission systems (FACTS). A smart grid uses digital technologies to monitor, control, and optimize power flow and quality. High voltage transmission uses higher voltages (above 100 kV) to transfer larger amounts of power with lower resistance. FACTS devices adjust the voltage, current, frequency, and phase angle of the power flow to optimize the power transfer and reduce losses and congestion. Moreover, they can enhance the security and resilience of the transmission system by mitigating faults and disturbances.

FACTS devices have their place but it is a small niche and special case like providing VARS or voltage support quickly, improving power quality, or redirecting power. In the other 99.9% of the world, the transmission system is analogous to the vast network of pipes in a cities water supply. If you want more water, you need bigger pipes. If you want more grid capacity, you need to put up more conductors. That is simplifying things but there is no magical shortcut you can take to avoid putting up more conductors to increase the capacity nearly every time. Most of the time the limitations on a transmission line are how hot the line can get due to carrying current. It is hard to get around that without putting up more wires.
