What are the most common technical challenges when editing videos?

Some of the most common challenges that I've come across when editing long or short form video for the social media program that I manage are: #1 Issues with an audio file when recording remotely #2 Knowing what file size is required for each platform (I suggest 540 size) #3 Trying to create engaging thumbnail images #4 Delay in video feed/glitch while recording

For me, it's editing a video post to the specific format of the SM site; targeting the right audience, with a clean message that hits in under 30 seconds. We are magicians!

It's necessary to regularly clean up unnecessary files, use external storage solutions, considering dedicated storage for project files, and be mindful of the storage requirements when choosing export settings. Additionally, maintaining a structured file organization system and archiving old projects can help manage storage more effectively.

In addition to this topic I would refer to the sound level of voices in the video versus music tracks selected to go on the background and the use of fade-in and fade-out effects on the audio tracks. According to the nature of the scene, or the dialogue, or the narrative the level of sound of music should be controlled to avoid that it shadows the original sound that is meaningful for the outcome that you are looking for.

Regular testing on different displays and understanding the technical aspects of color grading can help produce consistent and visually appealing results.

Keep transitions simple. Refrain from exaggerating with in-and-out changes. Keep it clear and clean, and use the same transitions all over the video.

Make sure to edit the movie in the correct format from the beginning. If it's a mobile video like TikTok and Reels, edit it correctly. Only use high resolution if it's YouTube; most platforms downgrade it.

Editing Systems Before getting into video editing as a beginner or pro, the computer Systems in question must be of high quality, the OS, storage, Speed, Display and graphic card etc must be checked. Considering all these and making sure the computer System is designed for such heavy tasks would save the editor a great deal and avert many technical issues during editing.

Make sure to use captions if there's talking in the video. Many people watch on mute, and captions help the platform target the right audience using critical words from captions. You can use hashtags correctly, and make sure you have a proper headline for the video. Text is often undervaluated in videos.

I always double check after exporting, keeping backup copies of your original files is advisable to prevent any permanent alterations.
