You know, there are different types of approaches. One type of CEO might plan 100 very ambitious goals, and by achieving 50% of them in the long term, that is a huge success. And also, there is another type of CEO with 2-3 goals who most of the time achieves them in the long run. I believe in a big vision and in huge, untouched, unreal successes. If leadership chooses to reprioritize, then the projects need to be reprioritized accordingly.

Executive goals are set at the strategic levels whereas the Project goals are at the operational level. The Project leader suould translate the Executive Goals to their operational levels and synchronize the project outcomes. Priority management aspects of Projects should be done at the operations level duly aligned with the Executive goals. Priority should be assigned based on the Critical path analysis of project operations. A due consideration should be given to the project priority path when the two are in conflict. Project Team should communicate these grey areas to the Executives to garner their advice of reconciliation.

There shall be changes in project risks, expectations, resources assignment, corrective measures that should all get aligned to the changing environments and expectations. The Project should be able to hoist red flags when needed for any misaligned tasks or processes. CSFs and KPIs should drive this process of continuous alignments whenever there will be deviations
