What are the most common mistakes in a logistic support role?

In logistics support, common mistakes are not talking well, causing delays, not planning for problems, making errors in records, forgetting to update software properly, and not building good relationships with suppliers and carriers. To avoid these issues, it's important to solve problems early, talk well, and pay attention to details.

It seems unbelievable that within a large organization, for example, the shipping department of a steel mill had no contact with the last mile delivery team. I was often sought out to provide customer delivery addresses or even pass along internal complaints about products arriving damaged or mislabeled. Something that appears a simple phone call could resolve actually required changing internal procedures. Robust communication between departments is mission-critical, though sadly lackluster in many large corporations. Cross-functional coordination, from product hand-offs to delivery methods and customer data sharing, is essential to smooth logistics. We must bridge silos through open dialogue.

Visibility is a primary driver between things falling through the cracks. My experience with companies is that if they are suffering from logistical hassles internally, it really comes down to what systems and processes are in place to bridge communication, visibility, planning and coordination across teams that logistics is associated with. A robust ERP platform can help align cross functional teams to bridge those gaps that cause logistical chaos.

In the realm of logistic support, I've felt the impact of common pitfalls keenly. The silence of inadequate communication reverberates, causing delays and uncertainties. Poor planning casts shadows of inefficiency, disrupting the smooth flow we strive for. Inadequate training feels like sending soldiers into battle without armor, leaving teams vulnerable. Insufficient coordination disrupts the harmonious choreography of operations. Reflecting on my journey, I've witnessed the transformative power of innovation. I would add also lack of delegation. Logistics consist several level of tasks and duties, with the help of good explained instructions, check lists and measures to evaluate, delegation could lead increasing the capacity to be reserved for more important topics.

The most commont mistake that i know from the industry ,usually the plants try to perform excessive stocks to balance breakdown looses or fluxtuations that comes from the customer but anyhow this excessive stocks can not be exact solutions without focusing source of what the real problems these are. Thus there should clarfy the thereshould for the limit of stocks and if there is over the limit ,analying for the other stakeholder for how much affect the stocks valumes and define the roote problems of the excessive stock.
