For instance, in a project where I was creating content for a health app, knowing the audience wasn't just about knowing their age or location; it was about understanding their emotional state. Users seeking health-related information are often dealing with concerns, uncertainties, or even fear. By recognising this, I could tailor the content not just to provide clinical information but also to offer reassurance and empathy.

Design thinking creates a deeper connection with our audience. By employing design thinking, we go beyond demographics, delving into the unique preferences, goals, and pain points of diverse users. Conducting thorough user research, crafting detailed personas, and leveraging analytics are key steps to tailor the right content effectively.

Creating content design is about presenting the right content for the right person at the right time. For that, you need to do the following: talk to users, see how competitors are talking, go into Reddit, use Twitter or X or whatever is called right now, and watch some youtube videos; what I mean is, try to immerse yourself into the world of the user, the more you understand, the more you can learn about their concerns. The first and most important step in content design is to understand pain points or user needs; then, everything will be much easier.

Undoubtedly, understanding the audience is one of the key points for creating any communication content. Tools such as the customer journey, marketing archetypes, or understanding different personality types will allow us to generate focused communication designed specifically with the qualities, values, gains, and pains of our audience in mind.
