What metrics should you track to ensure your E-learning courses are high quality?

La définition de l'objectif est une étape très importante dans la mise en place de tout programme d'apprentissage. J'aime bien utiliser la taxonomie de Bloom dans la définition de l'objectif pédagogique. La formulation que j'aime utiliser est : à la fin de ce programme (ou du module), l'apprenant sera en mesure de .... Cette formulation m'aide par la suite à bien choisir mes outils d'évaluation.

User Satisfaction: Monitor learner satisfaction through ratings or Likert-scale surveys. Assessments of course relevance, usefulness, clarity, and overall satisfaction can help gauge the quality and effectiveness of your e-learning courses. Course Drop-off Rate: Track the percentage of learners who drop out of the course before completion. High drop-off rates may indicate issues with course design, content relevance, or learner engagement. Analyze the reasons behind drop-offs and make necessary improvements.

E-learning has come to stay though some 'brick-and- mortal fanatics' may have some reservations for it and may perhaps not see the knowledge gained from such environment as being authentic. To ensure e-learning contents are of high quality, there should be zero tolerance for plagiarism. As the case with Westland University where I review materials of Marketing courses, the first task is to ensure that contents are plagiarism-free before reviewing. Also, customer feedback can be another metric. In this case, the customers are the students. Their review of the material/content can go a long way in determining the quality of the content. Since they are the users, they will tell if the contents is easy to understand and delivers value.

Tracking metrics is crucial to ensure the quality and effectiveness of E-learning courses. I will only be focusing on two; ? Engagement Rates: Time spent on the course, page views, click-through rates. Why: Indicates how actively learners are participating; higher engagement often correlates with better learning outcomes. ? Completion Rates: Percentage of learners who complete the course. Why: Provides insights into the course's relevance and effectiveness; low completion rates may indicate issues with content or delivery. Regularly analysing and interpreting these metrics allows course designers and administrators to make data-driven decisions, continuously enhance the learning experience, and maintain high-quality E-learning courses.

Considero que há uma variedade de métricas utilizáveis. O mais importante é que estejam conectadas com os resultados que se espera alcan?ar e às competências profissionais que se espera desenvolver. Assim, antes de tudo, deve-se definir metas e objetivos claros.

In my opinion, learners' satisfaction matters the most. When a learner is satisfied after taking any course from any E_LEARNING platform, it's the real success of the course. If a learner's needs are not satisfied, the course content needs to be revised or reframed. Learner satisfaction indicates that the course content is: 1-Audience oriented 2-Meeting the required learners' criteria 3-Convenient to use 4-Achieved the set SMART Objectives To sum up: Learners' satisfaction can be used as an indicator to identify the success rate of any e-course as a learner is an advertising tool for any course if it gets satisfied, the course may gain popularity otherwise it may fail. ??

There are multiple metrics you can look for while assessing Learner Satisfaction. One of them is the proactive feedback you receive from the students. If they proactively share positive responses and express their learning experience and the result that they have got, it clearly conveys if the course is outperforming the expectations of students or not. Remember, E-learning is becoming competitive. Just delivering the bare minimum as a teacher is not enough, we need to think what extra we can provide to our students. How can we maximize the LOI (Learning on Investment).

Learner satisfaction paraells learner engagement. Digital courses that include interactive content such as multimedia (video, images), quizzes for assessment, discussion forums, and clear learning objectives typically lead to higher student satisfaction. Incorporating real-world examples and varied learning activites can also enhance engagement.

J'ai remarqué que dans certaines culture, les personnes sont moins à l'aise avec l'évaluation de la satisfaction. Je suggère souvent que cette évaluation soit anonyme et que ?a soit bien indiqué avant de la débuter. Nous pouvons ainsi nous assurer d'avoir un meilleur feed back objectif.

Mesurer le nombre de ceux et celles qui terminent le cours est une chose mais il faut s'arrêter sur ceux et celles qui ne le terminent pas. Porter une attention particulière à l'étape dans laquelle nous avons le plus de décrochage. Ceci peut être un signal concernant une difficulté en particulier : compréhension, intéraction, rythme... afin d'ajuster le tir. Il faut aussi analyser les barrières à l'apprentissage si nous désirons que notre formation soit accessible par un maximum d'apprenants : ciblage du public, nécessité d'une connection performance ou d'une grande capacité du matériel informatique, ...et améliorer les conditions si possible. C'est à nous de nous ajuster avec l'apprenant cible et non le contraire.

Beyond completion rates, it's crucial to track learner engagement through social interactions. Monitor discussion forum activity like replies and upvotes to see collaborative dialogue. Track learners contacting each other directly for peer assistance. Measure participation in group assignments and peer reviews to ensure meaningful cooperation. Analyze links clicked and resources accessed to map social connections forming around content. While completion matters, rich interaction between learners compounds e-learning's impact. Fostering relationships and communities multiplies knowledge as learners teach and learn from one another.

à ce chapitre, j'ajouterais l'accessibilité pour les personnes en situation de handicap. Il faut aussi nous assurer que nous n'avons pas d'apprenants·tes qui sont désavantagé·es. Il faut aussi tenir compte des intelligences multiples.

En mi experiencia creando cursos e-learning, hay estrategias especialmente útiles como: - La evaluación continua: incluyendo test y ejercicios interactivos de autoevaluación a lo largo del curso. - Interacción con el alumno: mantener contacto con el alumno, ayuda no solo a asegurar la comprensión de los conocimientos o a resolver dudas, también, en el caso de cursos e-learning, ayuda a prevenir abandonos. - Contenido multimedia: crear contenidos en diferentes formatos, como video, audio, texto, imágenes o contenido interactivo, ayuda a mantener la atención y la motivación - En cuanto a métricas, observar en qué contenidos o clases hay mayor tasa de abandono, nos puede dar información útil sobre la utilidad o el dise?o de los contenidos.

Cualquiera de los aspectos mencionados anteriormente deben ser, al menos, triangulados. No basta tener un sólo indicador como métrica pued da una perspectiva sesgada.
