A team mentor is not a controller, a dictator, or a manipulator. A team mentor is an empowerer and a motivator who helps their mentees take ownership of their learning, growth, and performance. To empower and motivate, you need to respect your mentees' autonomy, choices, and preferences, and avoid imposing your own agenda, expectations, or solutions. You also need to help your mentees identify and leverage their intrinsic motivators, such as their values, interests, passions, and purposes. You also need to help your mentees develop their confidence, self-efficacy, and resilience, and cope with stress, uncertainty, and change.
