What makes a successful AR UX design?

First thing you need to think about is how your user is going to interact with your AR content. Yes, AR is great but there are many limitations when it comes to user's hands. In order to understand the best way to interaction in the AR world, You need to determine the main added value of AR for your users, Why you chose this technology for your target? So based on your answer to this question, How AR can meet your goal through getting user more interacted? This question will help to know "What" AR interaction will suit your user and your target best.

It is also important to realise that you may not get to achieve the entirety of the goal in your AR UX interaction. It is ok to get to partial completion but in a way quicker fashion. Consider the analogy of drawing with an Apple Pencil vs drawing with a Mouse. The Pencil based approach gets you to the basic shape way faster, after which you can continue tweaking it in a mouse-based interface. This may be tough because you may be making something that’s never existed before, but odds are someone’s done something related to what you’re making. Try their experience if it’s available - what’s good and bad about it? How can it relate to yours? How was their UX received? Potentially connect with them and talk to them; they can share insight that may be valuable to you.

Although AR as a technology is new, it still has to comply with the first principles of how humans perceive and interact with surroundings with feedback to help them learn the environment.
