What are the latest sensors and actuators for industrial robot networking?

The industrial robotics sector is rapidly advancing, driven by innovative sensors and actuators. 3D vision sensors are enhancing precision in object manipulation, while advanced force and torque sensors allow for more delicate operations. LiDAR sensors are improving navigation and obstacle avoidance. Nowadays, with the maturation of Computer Vision, you don't often need the latest and greatest vision sensor. In fact, it is more about how much vision performance do I need from my camera? The likes of OpenCV and Darknet/YOLO allow you to get impressive results even in compute restricted applications. Still, in my opinion, the simplest solutions are sometimes the most elegant. And sometimes that means reducing your vision... A great example of a new sensors that are coming out are Point LIDAR's on breakout boards from the likes of Pololu. At a a competitive price (and 0.6g), they can be tucked into otherwise hard to reach locations, and get similar information that you might get from cameras - without the development overhead.

Vision Sensors are available in a wide variety today. Everything from UV, Visible, IR and even full spectrum sensors. Depending on the application and the wavelength requirement, price and performance varies greatly. Some of the commonly used vision sensors are VIS cameras because of their cost effectiveness. LIDAR, RADAR and their variants are commonly found the automotive industry. Vision sensors allow for capturing information in a massively wide region of interest, may it be at microscopic level or space telescope level. This flexibility is what makes them important in robotics.
