Test coverage is Great but we should always remember that it can provide false assurance. Test coverage cannot be directly used as a metric to compare 2 different projects.

Test effectiveness is directly linked to percentage of defect leakage because of “testing miss” and that could be because of : - missing acceptance criteria in user stories - incomplete impact assessment - not able to find edge scenarios - ineffective test data - SME review of test case scenario not done

In my experience, in the companies that don’t have a separate QA function, bugs caught by the tests are fixed on the spot by the engineers and never get reported

Closer a test performing a user behaviour, better the testing maturity. Always make sure, the test covers all the business requirements, not just standardised tests. Unit, Integration, E2E, User Acceptance. They are all necessary none is substitute for the other. If time is of the essence you can do with Unit Testing but having a clear roadmap of writing other types are just as important!!!
