In my experience it is important to emphasize supplier relationships and that everyone who interfaces with the supplier within the organization is on the same page regarding the maintenance of respectful relationships. I have witnessed how a single negative interaction with a supplier from another department can set back the organization with reliable supply chain efficiencies. This can also hinder future commercial discussions. Therefore the 'establishment of clear and effective communication and collaboration' during the supplier selection process is key in the beginning.
